So, you purchase pet insurance, visit your vet and pay your bill, file a claim for a covered expense with the pet insurance company, but reimbursement for the claim is denied. The reason - you didn't file the claim within the alloted time frame specified in the policy. 
Most pet insurance policies require you to file a claim within 90 or 180 days, and if you fail to do so, technically they can deny reimbursement - even for a covered expense. I've read about instances where this has happened. I've also heard from at least one pet owner whose company showed leniency and reimbursed him when he filed a claim a few days past the deadline.
This brings up an important point that I've been harping on for quite sometime. Always read your pet insurance policy - read every word - so that little details like this don't go unnoticed that can end up costing you money unnecessarily.
In fact, look at all the requirements for filing a claim e.g. do you have to send copies of your pet's medical records (all of them or just the record pertaining to this particular visit). Getting this right will avoid delays in getting your reimbursement.
So, do you know the timeframe for filing a claim with your pet insurance policy? Yes, you could call the insurance company and ask, but why not find your policy (you do know where it is don't you?) and refresh your memory about it's provisions? You might just be glad you did.
