Correction to book

I recently met a man that represents 24PetWatch insurance company when I visited a local veterinary hospital here in Memphis. I gave him a copy of my book. I talked to him last week and he said that the 24PetWatch plans I have in the book are the Canadian plans rather than the U.S. plans. Apparently, PetCare recently changed the name of their U.S. company from PetCare to 24PetWatch.

I have come across several pet insurance companies that market under different names. For example, ASPCA, Petshealth, and Premier are all associated and offer the same plans. The name of the plans are different at each company. 24PetWatch markets under several different names. I found a company last week called Global Pet Insurance Company. When I got a quote, I was referred to the Pets Best website. So, there may appear to be 15 or more insurance companies operating in the U.S., but actually there are only about a dozen. The names of the companies in my book are the main parent companies.

So, in an effort to be accurate, I am resubmitting a proof to my book so that future copies will have the correct 24 PetWatch policies summarized. I am also including a pdf. file detailing the U.S. policies in this post so that any who have already purchased the book will have the correct information. Download 24PetWatch. This replaces the information that appears on pages 63-68 in the book pertaining to 24PetWatch.

This message is for Dr. Doug Kenney: I love your book on understanding pet insurance. At the bottom of page 66 you say, "in my opinion, the only policies that offer reasonable coverage are the two listed above." Do you mean the "last" two listed above; 24PetWatch & AKC? I'm asking because you have more than two listed. Please advise. I'm hoping to make a decision & get pet insurance soon. Many thanks. DinCA
